VeriCore™ · Scientific Accuracy System

The AI that checks its science before it writes a single word.

Every VarsaAI output begins with VeriCore™ — a mandatory verification layer that cross-references every scientific entity against the world's leading life sciences databases before generation begins.

The Challenge

AI hallucinations in pharma aren't a nuisance. They're a liability.

Generic AI models generate scientific content confidently — and incorrectly. In regulated industries, an inaccurate receptor orientation or inverted pathway isn't an error that gets corrected in post. It goes to MLR, to HCPs, to patients.

"

44%

of organisations experienced negative consequences from GenAI use — with average losses of $4.4M per incident in pharma and healthcare.

"

18%

of AI-generated clinical summaries contained incomplete or misleading information (JAMA Network Open, 2023).

Technical Architecture

How VeriCore™ works.

Five sequential verification steps, each a hard gate. A partial pass is treated identically to a full fail. No generation begins until all five return PASS.

01

Scientific Entity Extraction

VeriCore™ parses the content brief and extracts every named scientific entity — drugs, receptors, cytokines, cell types, pathways, organelles, molecular interactions, and biological processes. Each entity is assigned a type classification before any lookup begins.

02

Primary Database Verification

For each extracted entity, VeriCore™ queries primary scientific databases. Protein structures against RCSB PDB. Sequences and domain architecture against UniProt/Swiss-Prot. Pathway node order and directionality against Reactome and KEGG. Drug names and mechanism classifications against WHO INN and FDA label databases.

03

Interaction & Binding Verification

Every molecular interaction is confirmed — binding interface, domain of each molecule involved, conformational consequence, downstream signalling, and directional accuracy. Any interaction that cannot be confirmed halts generation.

04

Pathway Sequence & Scale Verification

Signalling cascades validated against Reactome canonical node order. Every step is directionally correct, no steps inverted or conflated, and drug intervention at the correct node. Molecular scale consistency verified per scene.

05

Cell Morphology & Visual Convention Verification

Every cell type is verified against atlas-level morphological data. Nucleus-to-cytoplasm ratio, surface marker expression, and functional state indicators confirmed. Published visual conventions enforced from peer-reviewed journals.

Reference Infrastructure

The databases VeriCore™ trusts.

Primary peer-reviewed scientific databases — not training data, not generalised knowledge. Every verification traceable to a specific entry and published source.

PRIMARY · STRUCTURAL

RCSB Protein Data Bank

Experimentally determined protein structures — crystal structure, resolution, binding domain architecture and depositing publication.

PRIMARY · FUNCTIONAL

UniProt / Swiss-Prot

Canonical protein sequence and functional annotation — domain architecture, PTMs, subcellular localisation and isoforms.

PRIMARY · PATHWAY

Reactome

Peer-reviewed human pathway database providing canonical node order, reaction types, and directional specificity for all signalling cascades.

PRIMARY · PATHWAY

KEGG Pathway

Comprehensive metabolic and signalling pathway maps cross-referenced with Reactome. Authoritative for metabolic pathways and drug-target mapping.

PRIMARY · REGULATORY

WHO INN / FDA Label / EMA SmPC

Authoritative sources for drug name, molecular class, target and approved mechanism statements before any appearance in output.

SECONDARY · VISUAL

Nature Reviews · Cell · PNAS

Peer-reviewed published review figures used for visual convention verification of pathways, cell types and molecular interactions.

Verification Scope

What VeriCore™ checks on every generation.

Check

Drug structure & class

INN name, molecular class (mAb, small molecule, ADC, mRNA-LNP, CAR-T), structural representation and mechanism interaction type.

Check

Receptor topology

Membrane topology, extracellular domain structure, active/inactive conformational states, glycosylation status.

Check

Binding interfaces

Domain-to-domain contacts, conformational consequence, downstream signalling, activating or inhibitory directionality.

Check

Pathway sequence

Canonical upstream-to-downstream node order confirmed against Reactome and KEGG. Drug intervention at the correct cascade node.

Check

Cell morphology

Correct size, shape, nucleus-to-cytoplasm ratio, surface markers and functional state for every cell type.

Check

Scale consistency

Biologically plausible relative scale between co-depicted entities — antibody, receptor, cytokine, cell, organelle.

Check

Terminology & pronunciation

Pathway names in canonical form. WHO INN drug names. TTS pronunciation verified against IPA phoneme standards.

Check

Structural prohibitions

Scientifically incorrect representations are enforced as negative constraints in image generation — errors never reach output.

The Audit Trail

Every output ships with a VeriCore™ record.

The structured audit trail is designed to be the document your MLR reviewer needs. No black boxes. Every claim linked to its source.
