VarsaAI vs AI Score: Governing How AI Is Used Isn't the Same as Proving What It Said
AI Score and VarsaAI both sell to the people accountable for enterprise AI: CISOs, heads of AI governance, risk and compliance. Both are UK-built. Both promise control across the whole AI estate. They answer different questions.
AI Score is an AI governance platform. It describes itself as an intelligent governance layer that maps your AI estate, measures AI activity against your policies and objectives, and turns it into prioritised action (AI Score).
VarsaAI is AI verification infrastructure. It checks every claim your AI generates against authoritative sources at the moment of generation, attributes each sentence to its source, and issues signed proof any auditor can verify.
AI Score tells you whether your AI use follows your policies. VarsaAI tells you whether what your AI said was true.
At a glance
| VarsaAI | AI Score | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | AI verification infrastructure | AI governance platform |
| Core question | Is this AI-generated claim true, and can we prove it? | Is our AI use aligned with our policies, risk appetite and objectives? |
| Unit of analysis | Every claim and every sentence AI generates | AI assets, users, agents, usage patterns and posture |
| Checks against | Authoritative external sources (literature, regulators, filings, case law, legislation, patents) plus your approved repository | Your policies, frameworks and objectives |
| Output | Per-claim verdicts: supported, unsupported or contradicted, with the source passage | Posture dashboards, compliance mapping, asset inventory, prioritised actions |
| Evidence | Ed25519-signed receipt per claim, verifiable by any third party | Governance evidence mapped to EU AI Act, ISO, NIST and more |
| Catches a hallucinated fact before it ships | Yes | Not described in public materials |

Governing activity vs verifying truth
AI Score watches how AI is used. It registers and classifies employees, tools, agents and workflows, maps usage against your policies, and recommends where to act (AI Score). That's the governance view: who is using what, for what, and whether it fits your rules.
A policy-compliant AI interaction can still produce a false claim. An approved user, on an approved model, working within policy, can paste a fabricated statistic into a client report. Every governance check passes. The error goes out under your name.
VarsaAI works at the level where that failure happens: the claim itself. Each statement an AI generates is checked against authoritative sources and marked supported, unsupported or contradicted, with the conflicting source surfaced next to the sentence.
Governance confirms the AI was used correctly. Verification confirms the AI was right.
Two kinds of evidence
AI Score maps governance evidence to frameworks including the EU AI Act, ISO and NIST (AI Score). That evidence shows your organisation has controls, registers and oversight in place. It answers the question: are you governing AI responsibly?
Regulators, auditors and courts also ask a narrower, harder question about a specific output: this statement your AI made, was it true, and how do you know? Framework evidence can't answer that. It describes the process, not the claim.
VarsaAI produces claim-level evidence. Every verification carries an Ed25519-signed receipt recording the claim, its verdict, its source and a timestamp. Any third party can verify it independently, without access to your systems. Every receipt lands in an org-wide evidence library, so a claim from eighteen months ago can be defended in minutes.
AI Score proves your governance programme exists. VarsaAI proves your AI's output was right.
What reaches the outside world
The liability in enterprise AI lands at one point: when AI output reaches a customer, a regulator, a client or a court. In the cases that have already cost organisations money, the failure was a false statement, not a governance gap. An airline's own chatbot gave a customer wrong refund policy, and a tribunal held the airline responsible for its accuracy (McCarthy Tétrault). Deloitte Australia part-refunded a government report containing fabricated references produced with a sanctioned enterprise model (AP via CTV News).
A governance platform would have registered those tools, classified those users and mapped those workflows correctly. It wouldn't have stopped the false statement, because it doesn't check whether statements are true.
VarsaAI sits at that exact point. It verifies the output at the moment of generation, inside the LLM, before it is sent, published or filed.
Better together
AI Score is a strong choice for organisations that need a live inventory of AI assets, policy-to-practice monitoring, compliance mapping and agent oversight across a large estate. VarsaAI doesn't do those things, and doesn't try to.
The two layers fit together cleanly. AI Score governs the estate: who uses AI, which tools and agents, and whether that matches policy. VarsaAI verifies the output: whether each claim the estate produces is true, with signed proof. AI Score shows the board that AI is governed. VarsaAI shows the auditor that AI was right.
A governance programme without output verification still leaves the enterprise's largest liability, what its AI actually says, unchecked.
Proven in regulated production
VarsaAI is live in regulated global enterprises today.
- "We now have 80%+ of generated medical claims with traceable evidence." Global IT Lead, Regeneron
- "Using VarsaAI as the LLM trust layer has resulted in significantly fewer escalations to regulatory/legal and 75% reduction in repetitive manual checking." Chief AI Officer, Ipsen
